VBS Camp in Myanmar
In the heart of Eastern Myanmar, nestled between lush green hills and the gentle flow of a serene river, there is a small village. This summer, the village buzzed with excitement as the local church organized its first-ever Vacation Bible School (VBS) camp for children.
Children from all over the village and neighboring areas arrived, their faces beaming with anticipation. Each day was filled with songs, stories, and activities centered around the Gospel. The children learned about the love of Jesus, how He guides us in our lives, and how we can share that love with others.
On the second day of camp, a thunderstorm rolled in, turning the skies dark and filling the air with the sound of heavy rain. The outdoor activities were put on hold, and the camp leaders gathered the children in the main hall. As the rain poured down, the leaders decided to tell the story of Jesus calming the storm. The children listened intently as the story was shared, their eyes wide with wonder.
The idea that Jesus could calm even the fiercest storm filled the children with a sense of peace. The story of Jesus on the boat with His disciples during the storm became a central lesson, teaching the children that no matter what challenges they faced, Jesus was always with them, ready to bring peace to their hearts.
Throughout the camp, the children engaged in various activities designed to reinforce the Gospel message. They participated in skits, sang songs, and created crafts that reminded them of the stories they learned. The camp leaders emphasized the importance of carrying the lessons of the camp into their daily lives, encouraging the children to pray and trust in Jesus during both good times and bad.
On the final day, the rain had cleared, and the sun shone brightly over the tiny village. The camp concluded with a joyful ceremony where each child received a small Bible. The leaders encouraged them to continue reading and learning about Jesus at home, fostering the seeds of faith planted during the camp.
The VBS camp in this little village in Eastern Myanmar was more than just a week of fun and games; it was a time of spiritual growth and discovery. These little ones have a certainty in their hearts that Jesus will guide them through life’s storms and light their path with His love.
